Sigmaringen, Germany. First mentioned in 1077 following an unsuccessful siege during the "Great Saxon Revolt", Sigmaringen was the seat of government for the Princes of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen. Originally a fortress, it was converted into more of a palace. I'll post more in the comments.
