  • Just looked it up and it would be around $1,100 today.
  • I think that number was what he was getting in 1911. I looked it up on this inflation calculator . $40 in 1913 (as close as I could get) has the same buying power as $964.19 in 2015. Which doesn't sound like all that much, but we have to realized he didn't have a cable bill or a cell phone plan or etc.
  • Probably no utilities at all, no mortgage, just taxes, food, and upkeep to worry about.
